(São Paulo, SoloAzar Exclusive).-A few hours before the start of SIGMA Americas, taking place this week at São Paulo’s Transamérica Expo Centre, SoloAzar chatted with CEO Emily Micallef. She analyzes the expansion of the show, the importance of São Paulo as an important hub for the gambling sector and the panels and keynotes to be held, among other issues.

SIGMA Americas 2025: 18,000 Delegates and Key Panels Set to Transform São Paulo’s Gaming Industry

Highlights at SIGMA Americas

Since launching in 2023, the event has been incredibly well received, receiving positive feedback from attendees. It has quickly grown to become one of our three largest global events”, said Emily Micallef, who added: “The third edition, taking place April 7–10, 2025, at São Paulo’s Transamérica Expo Centre, is set to welcome 18,000 delegates—a sizable increase from 2023 - which welcomed 14,000 attendees. We’re also expecting over 3,000 operators, 2,000 affiliates, and a lineup of 300 expert speakers.”

SIGMA Americas floorplan expansion

The CEO also remarked that, in response to this growth, the organization significantly expanded the floorplan. “With a dramatic increase in scale, this year's event expands from 16,000sqm to a sprawling 30,000sqm, spread across five dynamic halls at Transamerica Expo Center. This will allow us to meet the increased demand from the gaming community and accommodate a surge of top-tier exhibitors vying for a spot on the expo floor”.

18,000 attendees expected

We asked Emily about their work to ensure a great experience for attendees, and she answered the following: With over 250 staff situated across 6 international offices - including an on-the-ground team in Sao Paulo, our many specialised departments work continuously throughout the year to fine tune each detail. Working alongside BiS and with locally-based teams who know and understand the culture, language, and market has allowed the show to connect on a deeper level with our core audience.

“Whether it's sourcing an expert line up of speakers or seeking out the best venues, quality is at the forefront of everything we do. Our attendees have come to expect the best from us - and we believe they deserve it.”

São Paulo location

She then talked about the importance of São Paulo for the gaming industry in Latin America. “Brazil is fast emerging as an important hub for the Latin American gaming industry and Sao Paulo offers to become a nexus for this growing community. Already a major tech and business centre with an emerging developer ecosystem, the city is perfectly situated to host the BiS SiGMA Americas event and to attract key players from the global gaming industry.”

“BiS SiGMA Americas will continue to be the main meeting point for the industry in the region, bringing together top experts, operators, and investors to drive business and foster essential discussions”, she remarked.

Panels and keynotes

With regard to the trends that will shape the event's agenda this year, she commented: “With three days of panels and keynotes taking place across three stages, there’s plenty of room for a full and diverse agenda to play out. With Brazil’s newly implemented legislative framework, regulation and compliance will naturally be at the forefront of discussions, with panels tackling topics revolving around both the land-based and online industries.”

“The transformation of traditional gaming landscapes also feature, with panelists taking on the future of lotteries and their role as economic drivers and funders of social good. Meanwhile the thrills of sports betting and emerging tech, such as AI are also explored in more depth.”

Key networking opportunities for attendees at SIGMA Americas

Networking is what we do best, and there’s no shortage of opportunities this year. From dinners and drinks to a prestigious awards ceremony and the official closing celebration, evenings are packed full of events. Ice breakers open the first day, including a gastronomic tour of Brazil’s best eateries and markets, while the Centurion MMA fight and the SiGMA Poker Tour tournaments are sure to draw crowds,” Emily concluded.
